• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random thought for the day

I couldn't see anything that looked like a 10 mm in that picture. I copied it, zoomed it out 200% and sharped the colors and the contrast.
There it was, end of a combination wrench stuck in the tire. Gonna take more than a plug for that. Once I actually saw it sticking in the tire, then I could see it in the smaller pictures too.

Click on that and zoom it up.
😂😂 You “found“ it too! 😉🎯

Had to look it up. I did not know what Columbia House was. Thought it might be a coffee club or something. I was still on low speed, dial up Internet until about 2004. You just did not do a lot of web surfing on dial up. It was more like Web Dog Paddling. Lived too far out from the city to get anything but dial up. Once they added boosted DSL to make the phone lines carry the signal farther, then I got DSL, but even then it was not considered high speed. I have only been on high speed since about 2010. Now I am on Fiber Optic. The underground phone lines are going obsolete I was still on a party line before dial up Internet, so I thought dial up was a huge improvement.

WAY back in the day, when CDs first came out, round about 1984 or so, I started collecting them, I have over 3k CDs at this point. Of course, now they're all pretty much obsolete because of streaming, oh well.

Anyways, one of the ways that I built my CD collection was through the Columbia House and the BMG CD 'clubs'. They would offer new members 15 CDs for a penny, and one would have to purchase 3 at regular price within two years, or something like that. I would join the club using the names of my relatives, with their permission of course, and get the free CDs and then buy and pay off the required CDs and then cancel. Only to do it again and again.

Unscrupulous? Some may see it that way, I did not, obviously.

Thanks for the history of your ISP adventure but that had nothing to do with these clubs at the time, it was all via mail and phone.

I must be older Albec. Started out with good old vinyl lp's. Same deal through. This was the 60's. The only tape was reel to reel let alone cd's.

Had it stripped down to the water pump and fan when I took this picture. Water pump and fan removed now. Water pump was bad. Lot of loose motion and shaft did not rotate smoothly. Got a box from UPS today with new water pump, new fan, new hoses, and gaskets. New battery box that is going back in it is finished and painted. Got one more small box coming from Ocala Tractor and everything will be here to start putting it back together. Taking the radiator to a shop tomorrow to test it. Pretty sure it wasn't leaking, but want to get it checked out anyway, before putting all that back together.
