• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Safety Tip - at stop-lights

Was sitting at a red light on a narrow road. Barely enough room for one lane in opposite direction, a through lane and turn lane in my direction. I was in the through lane. I just happened to look down slightly to my left and noticed that the car in the left turn lane, who was lightly behind me, was lined up behind my left wheel. Apparently he was leaving enough room for me and my wife,( which would have accomadated a two-wheeler fairly well, but close), but not taking into consideration the width of the front wheels. Thankfully we saw this before his light turned green and were able to move forward and slighty to the right. At the most he would have cleared us at about six inches. LOOK DOWN IN CLOSE QUARTERS GANG! This driver had followed us for several blocks safely and I am sure he did not mean to squeeze us.

Speaking of closer looks, do you ever notice that nobody is looking at traffic sometimes because they are looking at the syder? DEFENSIVE DRIVING!

That's when you gesture frantically at them to look at the road like they are going to hit something then hit your brakes (if safe to do so).

When I got my Spder RT-S SE5 2010 Model I was concerned about vehicles pulling up alongside
From the back the Spyder RT can to some people look like a Goldwing or other 2 wheeled Touring motorcycle
They are not always aware our Spders are wider at the Front than at the back and pull to close

It was for this reason I replaced my Front Mudguard rear reflectors which are ok at night when lit from vehicles behind but are not to easy to see in daylight - I replaced them with the Led Front Mud Flap replacement kit which are very bright all the time and I believe
to be an essential safety aid

The Led Front Mud Flap replacement kits are available from Site sponsers and you will find some threads on Tips on how to fit them
although the instructions are very good

Those mudflap lights keep looking more and more like a must-have...
Thanks for the reminder to stay vigilant in traffic!

I second the motion for the ESI/Custom Dynamics Mudflap Lights. I wouldn't be without them!

Scotty,
Since there obviously needs to be some wiring run down to them:
how tough is it to tuck it up and safely out of the way of all of the whirring bits and pieces?
Is there actually enough room in the stock wiring to those front lights to make the hookup painless?

The wiring is all contained within the fender if you don't have the Tips or Triple Play and use the brake or turn signal options. The instructions tell where to run the wires, and zip-ties are included in the kit. The posi-taps are a little tight up at the clearance lights, but they fit OK if you take care to leave a little slack to the sheath or cut it back a bit. I have had no problem on three Spyder with the whirring bits.

:agree: Setting a few cars back at a stop sign I could see the on coming car trying to get a look at my GS. He pulled out right in front of a HD traveling at about 30 mph :yikes:. The HD :doorag: was able to swerve at the last second to miss the front end of the other car. He did it without missing a beat and I was impressed with the riders defensive reflexes . The car did make it across the road and drove by me real slow but I wished he kept his eyes on the road and other traffic.
