• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SHAD vs "official" can am saddlebags

Hi guys,
I do have the "original" saddlebags on my F3 - you know, those- that leaks, has bad locker and cheap key, and they do open while i am rYding from time to time. :yikes:
No I have seen, that there are those "new" SHAD saddlebags, official for F3 - they do use the 3P system.
My question is,
1 - does somebody has already an experience with these bags?
are they bigger, smaller/ equal than originals?
-any pros cons? apart from price and weight
2 - i have not seen how they are mounted to the bike. Is it the same way as those originals? - just by using those 2 bolts on passenger holders and one lets call it "slider clip" on the side of the bike?
Why I am asking is because, when I do not drive with them, I like the clean look/ design of the bike.

thanx for any hint.
you know, it takes time to get the down here to Europe, so I have no chance to really see them.:banghead:

SHAD BAGS

Martin I have the Shad bags and love them. They are watertight and never come open while traveling. They are also less expensive than the Can-Am bags. I have never owned the Can-Am bags, so I can't make a scientific comparison. But having seen the Can-Am bags, the Shad bags seem to be approximately the same size. The only down side is that when the Shad bags are off the metal frame is noticeable, but that doesn't bother me.

I have the Shad 50 top case on my F3T - love it. Have been on the highway in several downpours and never had a leak. Much sturdier construction over the Can Am saddlebags that cam am saddlebags that came with it

Hi JKM,
thanx for comment. May I have just one more question.
are you having these SHAD bags? cf64800d0285f06a41a19dd4ee859ac9.jpgshad6150.jpg
coz the same "3p" system is on the originals from canam and its not noticeable at all.

I added these to my wife's ST-S: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Detachable-...-ST-w-mounting-brackets-/252700691034?vxp=mtr

They work well, are waterproof, have lights and lock and seal perfectly. Awesome for $300.

The trim came black, but I repainted it to match the Spyder.

Hi Leeallen1111,

Can you post some pictures of how you've install it ?

I'm also in the process of adding a top case on my F3T and try to look at all my options.

Thanks !

Martin I have the shad bags on f3s. Bigger than brp cross country bags - hold my full face helmet easily. Shad sh36 is the bag model, lots of info on shad site.
Very robust, look great.
There is another post showing the brackets. 4 screws and the brackets are off.

Shad bags

Had the originals which had been installed by the previous owner. Did not care for them for the reasons stated by the original poster....in spades!

Bought the Shads. Problems cured all way around. I love how they mount and detach, and being able to access them without the key (i.e. locking them is totally optional).

Great product; great price .. Find 'em on eBay.

Pete
