• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shifting on the 2014 RT's

I have two things to tell you about the 14 RT's

1) Shifting, when you go from neutral to reverse it seems that you have to put your foot on the brake, push the Reverse Button and then hit the paddle to make it shift properly and easily, on my 12 & 13 you did not have to be so specific.

When you go from Reverse to neutral you will again have to engage the brake first, in order for it to work properly.

When you go from neutral to first, you must have the brake engaged in order for it to shift smoothly.

2) Checking your oil, with the new dipstick under the seat it is much easier, but with new clean oil and a dipstick with a beige colored oil dipstick it is hard to see where the oil is on the stick. SOLUTION, after you wipe the dipstick and then reinsert it turn the cap about a quarter turn then remove it, I lay the dipstick sideways on a paper towel and can see exactly where the oil is on the stick, makes it a lot easier.

These are not problems, just observations.

Just wondering if the 1330 had a different recommended check interval than the 990. :doorag:

they have a different change pattern than the previous, 3,000 for the first and then 9,000 thereafter but as far as checking goes i think its the owners duty to check as they feel it is needed.

Guess I wasn't very clear. What's new:roflblack:

Simply wondering what the '14 owners manual says about oil check interval.

Yeah, I backed out of a spot, took me a little to get it to go into first. Found that you have to press the brake to shift it into first. Don't remember having to do that on the old one. Gave me a 3 second, uh oh, till I figured it out. I have also notice that when I shift out of reverse, mine goes past neutral into 1st. Not a biggie, but I like to put it in neutral when I park it.

yes i forgot to mention that from reverse it goes to neutral then immediately to first.

Again not a problem just an observation.

Yeah, no biggie. I just put it back in neutral. I just like having it in neutral when I park it so I don't have to put my foot on the brake when I start it. If I am standing on left side, I have to walk to right or get on it to start it. Did I also mention, I am lazy?

Same procedure

GM Joe...on oil check...same method as on earlier models? Check "hot"?
Just a side note...wow I rode a '12 RT with only 1200 miles on it yesterday for a couple purchasing their first Spyder (I know everybody, quit :roflblack::roflblack: sure glad they didn't want any mechanical knowledge!!)..anyway WOW I love my '10...their '12 was sweeeeet and if the fellow selling wasnt going to get $$ until I returned I would have iron butted it....and wow if the switch to the '14 is going to be another :clap: experience I'm going to think I have gotten myself a Lamborghini and challenge that young pup, Justin BB to a race!!!! Everyone have a great day.

Do you still here the big clunk as you shift from first to reverse?

Going straight to first may be a good thing, I often have a time delay with my 11 which annoys people waiting to take my parking spot, lol....

When you get in a hurry you will get the clunk, but if you take your time it shifts in easier. Now please get out of that parking space so i can use it. :roflblack:

The guide doesn't say how often to check the oil level, just the procedure on how to check the oil level.
