• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

THROTTLE BY WIRE

Why did BRP go to throttle by wire on the rt's when they already had cable opened throttle body's on the rs that worked well ,there isn't an emission issue is there I don't really understand why put something on there that requires a brain to open and hold open after the motor is shut down to keep from sticking when a push pull cable will work

Wave of the future... HD's are throttle by wire now too. Much easier to do things like cruise control, etc......

Cruise is a lot cheaper on an electronic throttle, as is traction control and vss. Don't need double butterflies.

Plus, it can think for you and take away more decision making power. (insert joke about the government here)

It smooths out takeoffs and transitions in a more precise way than it could with a double butterfly.

And everyone who's felt the difference hates it :)

Love flying by wire, very smooth initial throttle response, zero problems, love the cruise control. It is one of the things that makes me prefer my RT to the RS I traded it in for.

on some cars with throttle by wire, they limit how much it opens in low gears. My SRT will only open to likr 75% in first and second, and torque is limited as well. I don't know if brp is doing anything similar... Maybe someone with both can compare?

I believe that Kawasaki also limited the amount that you can open the throttle bodies up on their ZX-14... They "staged" them so that a real good twist wouldn't give you all that was really there! :gaah: A buddy of mine with a lot of money and no common sense found someone who could get him all of those horsepower at whatever gear, rpm level or speed he was running...
He sold it after he scared himslef a few too many times and bought a BMW tourer... :roflblack:

Why they did it is up to their engineers and decision makers. I, for one, like it a lot...if nothing else for the much lighter throttle pressure. My hand doesn't get tired as readily when riding without cruise.
