• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I HAVE A 2012 RT SE AND would like to put on a shorty antenna. I tried to just unscrew the past but it wont seem to budge. I don's to break anything so is there a trick to getting it off or am i just a wuss:pray:

Antenna should have been tightened down with locktite and a lock washer--it may take a little "oomph" to break the grip.

IMG00230-20110715-1947.jpg I had all of this apart when I installed the corbin armrest but I have forgotten how the antenna was secured.

Gee... They were just falling off the bikes not all that long ago...
I think that there's been some sort of thread locking compound added to this equation...

antenna grief

SpyderJoe Here,

I had the same problem with my antenna I thought they welded the darn thing on there. i tried everything to break it loose but at the end i just had to break off the fiberglass antenna at the base above the nut so I could get a socket on it and even that took some torque to remove it. then I just replaced it with the short antenna from Walmart and trimmed the original rubber boot to go over the new stubby it works just fine now.

If you use a 7mm angled open wrench it should come off with a lot of swearing. Be careful the basis brass and pretty soft. It could get rounded off,if you use the wrong size wrench. After I installed the new shorty and trimmed the rubber boot I used liquid vinyl to seal up the hole so rain and water won't get down in the innards.

by the way there was no loss of reception with the shorty. I know it sounds counterproductive but I think reception may even be better than the original tall antenna. I was able to pick up Atlanta Radio Stations in Thomson Ga, 100 miles away. I could not do that with the original antenna.
