tupperware off...

I had the tupperware off for the first time, and I must say that this thing is laid out pretty well. Nice and tidy under the skin. PO said the dealer did the oil a thousand miles ago, and he (PO) had no idea where to check the oil... hmmm...

anyways it needed a half quart when I purchased it. How much does the typical 990 go through?

Tupperware is pretty easy off, too. The goldwing was a project... loving what I see so far...

Roger that, I read the sticker on the reservoir and followed it. Will do some reading here on the forum tonite about oil, my local didnt carry 5w 40, so the decision to use a diff needs to be made. Def full sythn.

Mine uses a pint between oil changes. They generally use a pint to a quart between changes.

Yup! Always keep a quart (Or is it a liter?) laying around, and about half of it will be used before the next oil change. :thumbup:

oil consumption depends on the ryding. I use a quart between changes. I change my oil every 4,500 miles more or less and ryde in warm to hot weather at high rpm's 5,000-6,000+ most of the time. I also have a manual transmission on my RS 2012. Do check after 500 miles or so, I do coming in from a ryde while engine is at running temp. Pop the left cover, three clip rings, dip stick in the oil tank. :thumbup: don't know if the full synthetic does any better I use the XPS blend...

Don't be afraid to shift up on the SM Gene. All the SE people around here have EVERYONE scared to death and convinced they have to keep the motor screaming all the time or the world is coming to an end. Us SM folks don't have that issue.

I'll cruise around 3.5k-4.5k and shift up as needed. No noticeable oil usage at all.

I had to remove the back end to install the entertainment harness for the CB. The entertainment harness runs under the seat from side to side. Also the CB mounts under there. It was a fun project and I had no extra screws left over this time.
