• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

upgrades for rts

G,day everybody in spyderland, last week I purchased my brand new spyder rts over here in Western Australia. Unfortunately over here both the rs and the rts have not taken off as well as Can Am would have hoped so finding out any information about the bike other than whats in the hand book is impossible. Now that the dealer has my money any questions that I have are met with a straight [i don't know]. My previous bike was a Honda vtx 1800 so obviously there is a huge difference between the 2 bikes. I can feel that the engine on the spyder is very tight and im sure that as time goes on it will loosen up but I cant help missing that exceleration that the Honda had. There seems to be lots of upgrades for the spyder rs such as exhaust pipes, fuel commander systems and air intakes but I haven't seen anything for the rts. Is there anything available that you guys know of?

I'm sure there are, but I've concentrated more on comfort, i.e., seats, armrests, and soon shocks, versus the speed and sound.

If there is anything out there for a Spyder, you can find out about it here. The people on this site are collectively more knowledgeable than the dealers. I personally am not looking to go for a lot of add ons, but I have installed the third brake light and have a set of Corbin arm rests to install. But between juice boxes, exhaust pipes, replacement sprockets and a plethora of other items, you will more than likely find all the answers here.
A good start is to search the old threads for what you might be looking for.
And welcome :2thumbs: good to have you all the way from down under!

Lites and more lites

Mainly I have had added lites for safety: Fog lites from BRP; 3rd brake; fender tips + others. (ESI has all)
Also a Utopia backrest for driver and rock guard (I live on gravel drive)...then Ken sent me this attachment/mod for when changing oil (my son does the work and he was soooo thankful for this great mod)
Oh yea, not what I call a mod but I use the XM Skydock with my ipod to get my beloved XM stations for music and news.
Now getting ready to order heated ryding gear so will need to get someone to get that hooked up for me.
Oh yea...alaskaleather.com...sheepskin for butt pad...now considered a must have by my bum
Still waiting for Lamonster to get production on my great WANT of a cup holder...trust me if this had been available I would have had that mounted before lites!!!!
Have a great time making your Spyder just that yours.:2thumbs:
My next MOD will be having some graphics done this winter when she is grounded because of ice/snow.

Rick,
You may want to ride her for a while and get used to the fact that the engine is no dog, but it does a lot better at higher RPM. Acceleration from 3500 rpm might be a bit slow because of the lack of torque, but above about 4500 rpm it really seems to come to life. Riding 2-up with my wife, I have to be careful when passing cars on 2 lane roads, or I'll be doing 30 mph over the speed limit, which is 55 mph, without realizing it.

welcome:clap: Rick, and I would just peruse the posts and you should find just about all you need, The BRP Dealer network is very weak when it comes to knowledge of the ryde, as well as, any mod add-ons. I too have concentrated on increasing my visability and sound quality.

:agree: There couldn't be more difference between the engines in the VTX and the Spyder. The VTX makes tons of low end torque while the Spyder loves to rev. Two up, my Spyder RT just starts to pull at 5000 RPM. At 6000 RPM it pulls hard and continues to do so up to redline. Ride it and get used to how it wants to be ridden before spending a lot of money on modifications.

Does BRP sell the fog light package that is on the RTS for the RT A/C? Has anyone bought the 5-LED light set and was it easy to install? Thanks

welcome I too am new to Spyderdom, have a little over 800 miles on mine. Hope you grow to love yours as much as my wife and I like ours.

I've had mine since Sept 4. I now have about 1500 miles on it. Just put ram mount cup holders. I also wrapped the exhaust headers.
