• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, that's News to Me - Dealer won't service Spyders over 10 years old!

Just called my dealer for an Oil and Filter change on my 2016 Spyder. This is the last year they will service it referring to their 10 year rule. No Spyders older than 10 years will be serviced at their shop. Really? That can't be good for future sales. 10 Years and you're on your own! Caveat Emptor.

Three threads on this same issue in the 'Similar threads' box below/at the bottom of the page; and even more like that if you search on '10 yea*' with the 'Search titles only' box checked - the asterisk (*)simply serves as a wildcard that lets the search pick up 'year' &/or 'years' and any other letter/s after 'yea' ;)

If you do that search, you'll see that there have been comments/complaints cropping up here about this since about 2015, not only about Can Am &/or Spyders; and digging a bit harder, you'll see there's been quite a few requests for recommendations on places that will still work on older Spyders from about 2017! It appears that quite a few of us 'older Spyder' owners (who may or may not also be 'older owners' of Spyders! 😋) really don't want to give our older machines up, &/or haven't found anything newer that's as good/exciting to ride as the bikes/trikes we already have. Mind you, there's also quite a few happy owners who have Spyders that've given more than 100,000 miles of basically trouble free service, and that number is growing daily! (y)

Old news. Unfortunately, it's becoming an industry wide stance. They must be doing quite well when they say they don't want your business or your money. It also tends to move more new machines from their salesroom floor to your garage.

I asked the same question of my Range Rover dealer the other day as mine is approaching 10 years old. The service advisor said they would be more than happy to keep taking money off me for service or repairs until it eventually bleeds me dry. So far I have been lucky with reliability, but he had a funny smirk on his face as he said it.

Can't help but to feel bad for those who are unable to do their own service. It's been a few years since my Spyder ownership. Maybe independent service shops have become more common. When I was an owner, non-Spyder dealers around me wouldn't touch a Spyder. Too much specialized training and proprietary systems to know about. Hopefully independent shops will fill the market void created by BRP abandoning even simple services......

The 10 Years and Done.

Yes, this is becoming more and more a big issue
with manyBRP Dealership across the USA. It is all about selling the BRP
Unit. Not about Service of your Spyder.
My local Spyder Dealer will still do oil and filter changes.
Also they will do tires. But only the 'Kenda tires'. Just the way
the industry is going. Still looking for an independent shop.
