What are the pros or cons of doing a centre or bar mount for a Phone holder - 2019 RT?

Wondering about any pros or cons for doing a centre mount or bar mount phone holder in my 2019 RT Limited. I'm leaning toward a centre mount atm.

I have seen 2 options, so I'm wondering what most people prefer - the phone mount that bolts in the centre of the handlebars (tack form) or the one that mounts on the bar right beside the cluster on the left side (quadlock)?

I see no need for my phone anywhere else but in my trunk. Although it is Blutooth paired with my Zumo 590, when the wheels are turning I have nothing to with it. I have enough to do contending with the distracted meatheads in cages and enjoying wind therapy.
I agree completely

I think if you're going to have your phone in front of you for use as a GPS, then the center location makes more sense. But, I'm with @JayBros in that trying to use a phone while piloting a machine down the road is unnecessarily risky. I keep mine in the trunk.

I can't imagine why anyone would choose a phone over a dedicated motorcycle GPS, like a Garmin Zumo.

Decades ago, I made a dash mount copied from a member who sold them here. A RAM ball mounts the GPS unit and there is another there for whatever I choose. Also, I mounted a clock, as the original one on the Spyder is useless. Eyes don't have to look down as with a low mount...

Because I already have a phone and I do not want to buy a Zumo, that's why.

I've tried mounting my phone on the handlebars or dashboard and have ultimately gone with keeping it in the trunk (or in my jacket if I don't need to charge it), connected via BT to my communicator. I've not really understood the point of mounting it where it's visible because I have always had a Zumo.

That said, if the idea is to use it as a substitute GPS, then I would think mounting it in the center, as high up as possible makes the most sense.

That's why my first response was "I don't understand the question". Why would you want to mount it off to the side, not in your line of sight?

My phone is a z-fold. So, unfolding it makes the screen much larger and easier to see with a quick glance at it.
