• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

All this Winter storage talk, my Arizona Spyder is out of Summer storage and I have been riding it on the cooler days! Now my Washington Spyder, that one is stored for the Winter. They are non identical twins, born at the same time, same size, weight, and skin color, but have different physical features. The Arizona one has had cosmetic surgery to look more like it's shiny twin.

Very nice. And great pics. Is that Roosevelt Lake?

No Winter storage for me. I will be going through the saddle bags today to remove the rain gear that I placed in there after traveling through the storm last week. Need to hang them up and make sure they are dry before putting them up. Even though I just got back from the mountains 5 days ago, I am considering taking one more day trip to the BRP before the time change and shorter daylight hours hit hard.

A nice upgrade you may want to think about would be the 3 position side air wings. Really works great to cool you down.

My wife's a tad short legged and the passenger floorboards are moved as high as can be, but she wants to be able to stretch every now and then, change foot/leg positions... she mentioned she used to be able to do just that on the Goldwing.

I spent a little time mocking up a footpeg we had from our old Goldwing passenger floorboards.

I believe it'll work... when I get the details worked out with the hardwood, it'll be replaced with some stainless.

Nice mod.

I brought my 2017 F3S in for an inspection on Friday, and while it was there at least 5 different workers came out to check it out. I guess they don't see many of them around lol.

Removed the panels and my defective left hand multi-switch.

Once the replacement comes in I will put it back together.

I'll take advantage of this time to use some polishing compound to get out some scratches and hand wax each panel before I put it back together.

Other than that, I'm off to see RUSH in DC tonight! 🤘

Also I finally found something that works on those water spots and corrosion dripping from the case screws that have been on my engine since I have had it.
It not only took the white spots and streaks off the engine but also cleaned up the corrosion on the screws.

Changed the oil and filter, and replaced these with Lamonster plugs that take normal sockets to R&R. I go "man I really tightened those plugs last time", then light blub, the dealer did the transmission recall and oil/filter as part of that the last time they were R&R'd.

So, I used Rotella T-6 5W-40. My go to lube oil. The BRP synthetic from the transmission recall had 7,134 mile on it. I went for a early morning 60 mile ride and the shifts are much smoother. :)

I tore apart my starter because I thought I had traced the problem to the starter - slow drag sometimes at start up, then it cranks and starts. I have a Battery Tracker on the battery and it shows only small drop in voltage at the battery, about 12.5 at lowest. Anyway, yanked the started out, cracked it open. The commutator had some black on it, not much, but I cleaned it up, all else looks very clean and good. Tested windings. Go to put it back together and BOOM, how in the world do you hold these brushes back to install the commutator again??? I've tried fishing line, alligator clips(no room)....what is the secret? I know some of you have had to tear into a starter already. I asked question on forum but I keep getting a message about asking a simple question on my thread, it is a bot message I am sure and I don't understand what I did wrong. Maybe someone can clue me in on that too. Thanks for this great forum! 1793209195912.png

I didn't see your original thread (I assume you started a new one), but I think the moderator (not a bot) is saying that the title was vague and neither it or the body of the text stated very clearly the topic and question to be answered.

This happens a lot in social media of all kinds, but in a forum like this, it can be counterproductive, particularly with a technical question. So, the moderator was trying to be helpful, not necessarily critical, in guiding you to state the issue clearly enough for you to solicit pointed responses.

It's also frustrating for other members on the site who want to help but aren't sure what the question or problem is exactly.

Also, did you ask this question on the right sub-forum, such as one of the "shop" forums? They are there for a reason, which is to help organize the vast amount of information on this forum in some meaningful way for easy retrieval AND because technical gurus subscribe to those forums so they pop to the top of their feed.

Good luck
