• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What to do with old helmets

We just disposed of my wife's RT and trailer and my trailer appears to be on it's way to a new home. After cleaning stuff out of the storage areas and cleaning out the utility room in the garage I have come up with a bunch of stuff that I either forgot or never knew, that we had.

Most of the stuff I can find a home for or will use somewhere along the line but what does one do with old helmets??

I turned up seven of them.... from half helmets to 3/4, some have never been worn and none more than a few times before deciding they didn't fill the bill.

Can you just toss this stuff in the trash or does anyone have a better idea?

Old helmets > 5 years old

If they are five years old or more cut the straps off and throw them away. Helmets are only rated for five years of life. I wouldn't want to be liable if someone wore it and needed it and it failed to protect.

I gave some we had that were past their usable age to one of our volunteer fire departments to be used in training for accident scenes.
