Good thing my bride isn't in this conversation!!! She's always telling me to go right and pointing left!

The Child Bride resembles that!!

That really didn't help me much when she started navigating for me back when I was driving Rally Cars, but she pretty quickly learned to use proper 'whole hand' signals instead of saying 'Left' or 'Right' - she could almost always aim her hand in the correct direction (well, almost always if we were going forwards, not so much of that 'almost always' when we were reversing, and much less 'almost always' when we were reversing rapidly... which was often required to correct a spoken mis-direction! ) But it was fun, and we didn't lose any sheep stations because of it.

Funnily enough my wife is the same. Told to do something on the right or the left, she invariably does the opposite and has to do this little thing with twiddling her fingers to figure out which is which. She openly admits she can’t readily figure out right from left when verbally told things like turn left here or turn right there, especially under pressure.

How such an extraordinarily educated and talented person as she, can’t do that baffles me. She admits it herself. North, South, East and West creates similar issues which as our entire state is built on a NSEW numbered grid system makes life interesting at times.
