While the rest of you have been adding incredible mods, I've been stuck trying to get a satisfying arrangement of Zumo 550, Scala Q2, G4 and, now, Sena headset and, finally, an Iphone 3GS.
My question is not about how to link all of these or about helmet speakers, ear plugs, ear speakers or any of the other pieces of the puzzle. I've spent the last three years fussing with all of these so I don't need answers to any of those problems.
Also, I've pretty much given up using the Zumo as part of this system. I have found it less and less useful in the turn-by-turn mode. I spend an enormous (some might say obsessive) amount of time working out routes, things to see, etc BEFORE I leave. So, I use the Zumo merely to show me where I am and to provide info on the nearest gas station or Dunkin Donuts. The Zumo is mounted on my brake fluid reservoir on the left.
Normally, I carry my Iphone in my tank bag where it is powered by a line from the 12v adaptor in the frunk. This way I can listen to music from the Iphone and answer phone calls.
This brings me to my problem and the reason why I want to mount the Iphone somewhere outside of the tank bag. When a call comes in to the arrangement via the Zumo, it tells me I have a call and I touch the answer button.
The same thing happens on the Iphone with an incoming call except I can't get to the phone inside the tank bag to hit the answer button. Thus, my desire to mount it somewhere where I can get at it.
I know that there is voice answering and calling via the Sena but I don't find it reliable. I'd prefer hitting the answer button, speaking, and when the call is done, hitting the call ended button on the Iphone. Simple.
Finally, I have risers on my Spyder and with the Zumo mounted on the left, the right side is one of the few places left to mount the Iphone with a RAM mount. I also realize that there is a plastic spacer between the on/off switch and the riser and I could put the mount there. I assume I'd have to remove my cruise control and the on/off switch to get at the spacer?
So here is the question: are there OTHER places where folks have mounted their Iphones?
Sorry for the length of this but I thought some background info might clarify the complexity of my setup.
