• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wish me Luck

About 4 months ago my fingers started going numb while I was traveling at highway speeds on my spyder. Had some test done and found out I have severe carpal tunnel issues, and possible permanent nerve damage. Going in for surgery in the morning to have my throttle hand repaired, and it should be about six weeks before I start to see any improvement. Depending on how well recovery goes my clutch hand will be scheduled for mid-march, or later this year. This will be my first surgery and while I am excited that this ongoing problem might be fixed, I am a little worried. I am giving up snowmobiling in hopes of having a full spyder season of riding.

All the best with the surgery - Hope all goes well and you are back riding soon

I also suffered form numbness in my hands and have seemed to have sorted it out it the following manner

1 - I fitted some Grip Puppies on the Handlebar grips - see example

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Grip-Pupp...rcycle_Parts&hash=item2a239c851b#ht_448wt_831

You can also use Grip Buddies which many have made comments on via this website

2 - I now use a Throttle Rocker or Crampbuster which tends to take the pressure off having to grip the bars
see example

3 - When on long highway rides I set the Cruise control on my Spyder RT-S - Again this helps to reduce me needing
to keep a tighter grip on the bars and as is well documented, the Spyder is best controlled by the use of a
light touch anyway

I don't seem to suffer from numbness now and know just how uncomfortable it can be when riding any Motorcycle

Hope this information helps others

Good luck with your surgery. I know exactly how you feel. I had cataract surgery a few weeks ago and while I was anxious to be able to see again I was of course worried about problems. All went well for me as I'm sure it will for you

Look at it this way; a step sideways now, for a better tomorrow!
The best of luck with both surgeries!

Good luck otter....

Good luck on your surgeries and recuperation periods. Still hoping you will be able to go to Spyderfest with our group from NY and NJ. BTW I was having some issues with numbness in my throttle hand until I went to the 3 axis adjustable handlebars by Kewl Metal, they are great and easily adjusted.

I had the same problem while on active duty. Couldn't hold on to a wrench or ink pen. Couldn't shoot. Had a carpal tunnel release done in '87. I was on med leave 6 weeks and light duty 2 more weeks. It took care of the problem. In 2011 I had the left thumb joint repaired. I was out of work 12 weeks for that. Best of luck. You'll be back on the Spyder soon.

And what Bruiser doesn't mention is that he rigged a strap to the clutch of the Spyder so he could continue to ride after his thumb surgery. He was determined not to miss a lot of riding time!!
