• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

That given what we pay for our Spyders, and the Garmin GPS comes as standard equipment, free lifetime map updates would be included. But noooo. Turned on my 660 today, and the first screen I got was a message that my maps were out of date and needed to be updated. So I plugged it into my computer, opened Garmin Express, and for only $89.99 I can BUY free lifetime map upgrades. True, $89.99 is not a heck of a lot of money, but the idea of it just chaps my a**. BRP couldn't have made a deal with Garmin to include this? Just seems bush league to me. Oh well, at least Garmin is getting my money, and not BRP. If they could figure out how to make us go through them to get it, it would probably cost $300.00. Okay, that's my rant for the day.

 What if someone put the newest maps on an SD card for you; would that work? :dontknow:

Probably, but I don't know for sure if that would work. Who could do that? I'm OK with paying the $89.99 for the lifetime update, but it just galls me that BRP did not think of this - or chose not to - when they made their deal with Garmin to be their sole supplier.

My 2014 RTL can with 660 and life time map updates
I have updated mine several times
I read on here that some did not have it and were supposed to have it
Try calling Garmin with your GPS serial number they may give it to you

Thanks Don, I hadn't thought of that. I will give them a call today.

In the Garmin box for my 2014 RT there was something that stated "free lifetime maps" I called Garmin to inquire... whom ever I talked to said I have free life time maps..
i bet if i call again... no one will remember..

FWIW.....The "Lifetime" that they're talking about is the projected lifetime of that Garmin model
which is around three years!

look at the model # under the battery, if it has a "LM" in it you have free Lifetime Maps.

You are exactly right. That is what Garmin told me. Mine is not an "LM", that evidentially came with later models. So, I'll pony up the $89.99 and be done with it. Thanks to all who posted comments.

I had an idea to contact BRP about the lifetime maps issue with Garmin. I sent Emails to three different contact at BRP - Steve being one of them - and waited. And waited. And waited. Now 96 hours with no response whatsoever from anyone at BRP. Looks like the bad old non-communicating BRP is back. :banghead::banghead:. It just :cus: me off that they ignore their customers once they have our money.
