Here in Vermont we are headed into our first hot weather. Today, highs will be climbing into the mid to upper 80's this afternoon with humidity on the rise. Combining the heat and humidity, it is going to feel like temps are in the low to mid-90's this afternoon.
Then the heat continues through the start of next week. They have issued weather alerts for Monday and Tuesday due to the extreme heat and humidity. Highs will be in the 90's to start the week, and dew points will be the 60's & 70's. That means it is going to be feeling extremely hot and oppressive.
Heat index values, or what it will actually feel like, will likely reach triple digits. Heat index values for Monday and Tuesday will be between 95 degrees and 110 degrees. They have issued extreme heat warnings for the area until 8pm (EST) Tuesday and heat advisories for the rest of Vermont and Northern New York (they will have cooling centers open throughout Vermont).
Then a cold front will be moving through the area early Tuesday evening, and that will finally knock down the heat and humidity for Wednesday. There could be a few scattered showers and thunderstorms as the cold front moves through, but we're not expecting anything severe.
Then we'll be dry through Wednesday, with less humidity and highs back near seasonable in the lower 70's to low 80's.
But shower chances return Thursday with a few scattered light showers. Most of the day will be dry, but a few of us could see some rain showers with highs in the upper 70's. But, here we go again, we will be getting rain on Saturday and Sunday.
Ps: No Spyder riding for me on Monday or Tuesday due the high heat temps. I will be keeping myself cool.
Be safe everyone, and stay hydrated!
