• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tried a third time to get the firmware updated from v013.20 to v020.80. Ride Now in Chandler worked for 2 hours and threw the towel in. They tried BUDS 1, 2 and 3. No joy. My other Spyder and a friends both got the update about 3 or 4 years ago. Drats!

Were you able to watch them? Did they remember that you need a special male-male USB cable between the computer and the USB connector in the Frunk, in order to update your display?

Sometimes you need to carefully ask about these things. I would check and verify about this 'Male to Male' USB CABLE.
You never know.

Good Luck on Your Mission. (y)

They tried several USB cables and laptops according to the service writer.
Hey Snoking. I guess what I was meaning to say late last night, is that in order to update the 7.8" display, you need to have two cables hooked up between the computer and the bike AT THE SAME TIME. One is obviously for the computer to talk to the bike using BUDS2. That goes to the computer USB and to the bikes diagnostic port with the BUDS MPI box in it. The second is a special male to male USB cable that goes from the computer to the bike's USB port that is used for BRP Connect - the one that you would hook your phone up to if you wanted to use BRP Connect features. For you, that port is up front. On later models, it was moved to the console glove box. That cable can't be any more that 2 meters long and I doubt that they had more than one of them around, even if they could find it. It's not a standard USB cable.

Here's a video of a tech doing the 13.20 update. The 20.80 update would be identical.

Here's the Bulletin that came out in 2019 for the 20.80 flash. As you already know, it is compatible for the 2018 machines.

You were the only one there, so I guess you'll have to decide if they were competent. Good Luck.
