• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

An odd suggestion I got in email today.

So I was checking around at different BRC safety classes, see if anyone of the unofficial ones would include a Spyder into their class for educational purposes. This is because the only 3 wheel course in the area is non-existent till sometime next year. I figured at worse they'd say no, and at best, they'd say "Sure but we can't give you a cert..."

I got a response from one today. They're answer? read the can-am manual. I jest you not. "The Can Am Spider Owners Manual should have or did have at one time information that is similar to 3WBRC that will be helpful."

Read the manual? Really? I mean, sure, there's alot of great information about the handling of a Spyder in the manual, but it's no replacement for a safety course! Funny thing? One of his instructors lives next door to me and suggested I contact them directly. Ooops!

If reading the manual is good enough... then why do they even bother with a riding class? Me thinks they speak with forked tongue! :lecturef_smilie:

GWRRA trike class

Here in Ohio GWRRA, Gold Wing Road Riders, offers a course for trikes. I have taken it and a few of our club members have done this as well. Check and see if there is a GWRRA club local or even check with the state. Hope this helps.:yes:

The answer you received was a bit on the unforgiveable side... :gaah:
Who exactly, sent it to you??

While they ARE correct; their non-explanation to somebody who is looking for guidance and help; is... amazing! :banghead:

I'm forwarding this info to a friend who is the former director of the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program. He is now the inspector for the MSEP. I'll let you know what he says. They don't have any control over private courses. But he may have some insight on upcoming 3WBRC courses.

I think the manual is a good source for operating a Spyder, but NOT riding it on the road. A course would be much better. they gointo more then just; this is how to stop, but also thinking ahead about stopping. As above, contact a Gold wing club and check their trike course. I have taken it twice, one on a VTX 1300 trike and on a Spyder learned things, both times.
Good luck
