Does my Spyder have a bell? Is it to warn of changing gears?

Coming round an island in traffic, my Spyder seemed have a bell go off - bong, bong. Was it to warn of changing gear?

I was in First gear at the time.

Any chance this happened around 2PM? Near a church with a bell tower?

There is/was a visual shift indicator that I never paid attention to, but I've never known there to be an audible warning. Or any other sort of bell sound.

Yes, first time it happened, I was still in First gear and should have changed up sooner. It does have a green arrow when to change up a gear.

Ps: There was so much traffic, you wouldn't hear the Church bells, and not at 16:20 during the Monday rush hour...

This ^ all points to you riding on a Spyder, but you haven't posted and we cannot see in your Sig line what year/model Spyder that might be... altho your Sig line does suggest that you've got a:

Any chance you could tell us what year/model Spyder it actually is?? And maybe add to &/or change your Sig line entry to show the true state of affairs? I believe I recall a post telling us you'd bought an RT, maybe a Ltd? But I've no recollection of the year...

The correct info about which year/model you're asking about juuuust might help someone give you the answer you're after.

Well, just a shot in the dark here, but if it were me, I would get down and see if maybe you have somethings loose under the bike, like maybe one of the guards you have installed, anything that's metal to metal, because they never installed any bells on a Spyder that I ever saw! Good Luck!

The bike is a 2018 RT Ltd in the UK. It's definitely a bell. I have altered my signature.

If you have a Garmin GPS, it has a bell if you set it up for say speed limit change ahead. I have a Garmin 590 with that feature, the bell sound setup to let me know the speed limit will change ahead. Just a guess.

YES, I do have a Garmin Sat Nav, a Zumo, and when I think about it, at the traffic island I was coming off a 40 on a 30; the other time I was coming off a 70 to a 30.

This might be the answer, though it's not been doing that on the way back from the dealers on the roads that are 30, 40, 50, and 60 mph.

What is a gremlin bell??

It's an attempt to ward off evil people in cars so they won't run over you. Yes really! I think this practice started with harley riders and yes in my opinion is ridiculous. After riding for 57 years when I see these things hanging from a bike I know the owner doesn't take riding seriously enough.

I believe that the question about the 'bells' has been
resolved. Some 'GPS' devices have been known to do
the bell/tone thing. I have a GPS in my truck that alerts
me on school zones and sometimes on specific speed
areas. It uses a 'tone' that kinda sounds like a 'bells.

Yes based on your settings your Garmin will announce (sounds a little like a bell) anytime the speed limit changes or you come to a school zone.

Dam, I could have used one of those the other day when I took the bride out for a ride in the hills! Rolled into a nice little town in NH and tried to sneak out the back way of town and came around the corner and darn if I didn't meet the local PD, had a nice talk with the gent, he run my plate, and he gave me a break and let me go about my way with no paperwork, hewmade me gun shy for the rest of the day!!! So when I do put the GPS on my ride I will have to look into that little bell!!!!
