• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FOLLOW UP TO STRIKE TWO ON SPYDER

Was talking with the mechanic at the dealer where I go about electrical issues. He had an SE that had shifting problems and some other spark gremlins. During the conversation he mentioned that the owner had installed some HID headlights. I asked if they were aftermarket or OEM. He said aftermarket. I told him he might want to disconnect them and try shifting. He said that was funny because that's exactly what the tech at BRP told him to do. He did that and the problems went away. I told him that some aftermarket HID kits have to be connected directly to the battery with a jumper harness and in line relay. For some reason, on SE models, it plays havoc with the electrical system.

I am unsure which is the exact relay being replaced, but aren't there other relays of the same part number in the relay box that could have been swapped for troubleshooting.

As for add on, there is a post by Shaun Smoak on his sight where he had a customer bring in a Spyder with odd electrical troubles. Seems the system was probably overloaded and could have had an intermittent short also.

What was the outcome?????

I think thats a good idea

Spoke to the mechanic that worked on my bike --was definetly a sticking relay according to his tests. I still dont know why he didnt change it in the first place .Ive been thinking abouts robs performance in Johnson creek even though it is further away. My biggest problem is that I have a "maintainance agreement" with my dealer. I could probably get out of that with a good lawyer but would cost me real money. However on the warranty side of it I can take it to any authorized dealer which is where Robs performance comes in. At least I can take that side of the business from the bad dealer. If I was younger I would just go to BRP training an do it myself!

Ouch on the maintenance agreement. I hope the guy that was looking into buying a Spyder from a dealer that was trying to force a maintenance agreement down his throat sees this post. I hope the relay fixes your troubles. Good luck.
