• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

gas gauge accuracy

has anyone found a way to get the gas gauge more accurate. mine reads empty when it's still half full.

I disconnected mine and used the digital ones in the center cluster. The fuel one was dead on accurate, much better than the analog jumping guage

do like dave01 says and you will get this.

Took your advice, Thanks Dave :2thumbs:

Much better accurate reading :2thumbs:

I disconnected mine also... The digital is more accurate for sure. and now I have a place to put a power outlet, when ever I get the time.

Well took off the windshield, then the headlight housing, then the top plate off the dash and disconnect the temp and gas gauge connectors on the back. I just twisted the connector so the center contact was still on so the gauge will still light up and I had a place to put the connector. I read somewhere that you had to disconnect both analog gauges for this to work... I am not sure that you do however.

What is the simple way to disconnect?

4 torx head screws that hold the cover in place. Turn the handlebar all the way to the right. Carefully pull the plastic that the guages are mounted to and the whole piece will come off. Reach behind the guages and disconnect the 3wire group from each guage and thats it. Takes maybe 10 minutes to do. Remember, the center guage ( information center) will stay in place and only the plastic that the 2 guages are mounted to will come off.

Yes, both guages will have to be disconnected for the digitals to work

If you have the bouncing gas gauge replaced with the newer design, you will be pleased with the accuracy.
I think it's just a matter of preference whether or not you like the digital display or the analog display.
Some clearly prefer the digital display. I prefer the analog one.

I tried to get it out that way but was afraid I would break the plastic frame, so I went in from the back.. Your way would be much easier. I like the analog gauage better but not as accurate.. Got tired of the gauge showing empty and filling up with only 3.5 gal. I didn't have the problem with the gauage jumping all around, just showing empty when it was still 1/3 full. :chat:

:agree: My original gauge was way off, reading below the bottom of the red area before the fuel light went on (4.7 gallons fuel). Also, the light did not work, and it bounced half the scale. The new gauge appears to be right on the money, the light works, and it can only be seen to move a short distance, slowly, on occasion when stopping or accelerating hard.
