• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got my trailer

Decided after some reading on here to go with the Piggy Backer XL. It should be plenty big enough for our needs. Anyway order it on Sunday evening and had it in the back of my pick up on Thursday afternoon. Chris and it got together Friday and in about 3 hours got it assembled. Still need to do the alignment checks and get it licensed.

Talked to the dealer today and Spyder is ready except we're waiting on the wiring adapter. If you don't have brakes you don't need more than 4 wires to operate the light on any trailer I've ever come across. So as understand it BRP had 9 wire originally then 5 at some point and now in 2013 4 but in a square versus a flat connector. The lack of any kind of standardization in some industries is a never ending source of amazement, amusement and frustration.

On a lighter note for those of you who have the piggy backer and have added the suggested 3rd tail light can you point me to the source.

A trailer with separate turn signals uses 5-pole wiring, while a trailer with combined brake/turn lights uses 4-pole wiring. Adding brakes, backup lights, or a 12 V source can add more, but these functions are not usually found on small trailers. BRP used a 9-pole connector from 2010-2012. That unit initially was wired for 7 poles, but utilized 6 of those poles in a modified 5-wire system (separate right and left brake lights). In 2011 they retained the 9-pole connector but switched to 4 active wires. (Note, there was an intermediate version available for a short time.) The RT-622 was changed to 4-pole at that time, too. That scheme remained until 2013, when they introduced a new harness/module with a square-4 connector. The RT-622 connector was changed, too.

I agree about the moving target. Hopefully this will settle down now and stay the same for a while. There were reasons for everything they did, but it still isn't fun on the receiving end.

Just as soon as they are in the same place

Soon as I get them together, I'll try to post some.

Yea, I would hate to get down in the pouring rain to get a spare tire out from under there to change a flat....like on a pickup truck. But would it be worse to unload your cloth luggage to get to the spare in the bottom of your car trunk in the rain?

Empty it is, that's how I got it hung under there. Blocked the wheels and Chris head it up while I got the spare on the "u-bolt'. Should work the same even with a load, kinda' hope I never have to find out :sour:.

Ride safe,

Sydee is back home

Picked him up yesterday and the weather was sooooooo nice :2thumbs: it was almost dark before I got home. The proper module will be in Tuesday so a quick trip back for it and a little more farkle.

Wife followed me and approves of the lighting addition, says I'm a lot easier to see from behind particularly in freeway traffic.

So far he now has the center tail/brake light from Custom Dynamics up on the trunk lid, mudflap and fender side light as run and turn signal flashing alternately with the stock lights. Will get LED fender tips changed out and I think maybe a Back-Off module while he's down there for the trailer wiring.

Want to find a decent looking LED set for a center tail/brake/turn signal on the trailer and I'll be set for a while.

Ride safe,

If you do find a good LED tail/brake/turn light please post. I looked real hard at one that flashes the brake light but could not find a good way to combine it with the 4-wire trailer circuit where the turn signal and the brakes lights are on the same wire.
