There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Oil Drain Plug How often do you have to replaced?

I have a 2012 RTS and had my 600 mile and 3000 mile service done at the same dealership. I took my bike today for them to do my 3000 mile service and which normally takes maybe 1 - 1 1/2 hour to complete took them 2 1/2 hours. It took them that long because the tech the did the 600 mile service over torqued my drain plug and they could get my drain plug out. They had to take, i guess, vise grips or some other clamping tool to get the plug out. They showed me the plug and it was all chewed up around the exposed edges. They charged me for the new drain plug and a copper washer. I told them I didn't think I should be charged for the drain plug and washer since they changed the oil during my 600 mile service and the tech at that time over torqued the plug. Your thoughts??????? Well when I got home I checked the oil level and guess what, the oil didn't even registor on the dip stick:yikes: May be time to find another dealership!! I called the dealership to complain and they said someone would call me back tomorrow. We'll see if that happens..

I agree with you! Talk to the dealership owner, preferably in person, and express your displeasure. Crappy dealers and sloppy techs should not be tolerated...especially if they don't bend over backwards trying to make things right. Charging a customer for your mistake is not the way to make a business thrive.

:agree:

Not sure which dealer you've been going to, but FRS Powersports in Memphis, TN has gotten good reviews from other Spyderlovers members.

No way..!!

they should replace the drain plug. We always had spares especially hex head types. We seldom charged for the plugs and if properly used should last as long as the engine. You may be right about finding a new shop especially if they have done all the work on your roadster and don't admit to the faulty work..good luck..!!:gaah:

My issue, as was anothers above, is that the 2nd service (first after breakin) is at 5000 miles, not 3K.

They should shell out the money not charge you. I hope BRP are tracking all these complaints so they can help out the dealers from getting these problems for their own image.

How much was the new plug?

May not be worth the hassel if you plan on finding another dealer.

The new plug was $16.49 and the crush washer was $2.74. Then they charged me with 5 quarts of oil and when I got home I checked my dip stick and it didn't even show on the dip stick. I guess its about a quart low if it bearly touches the dip stick. I know when they change all filters it should take 4.5 quarts of oil. So where is my 1 1/2 quarts of oil??????? Its not the cost of the plug and washer that made me mad, its the fact that they messed it up and they should replace it.

Thats what the dealership told me when I had the 600 mile service done, to bring it back to them when I had 3600 miles on the bike. Are you now telling me with the new updated trans filter that it is every 5000 miles now?

Well guess what to my surprise , no call from the dealership today. I did call them after getting off work and the person that I talked to orginally about the problem, told me the general manage was kinda busy today, yeah right, and he would call me tomorrow. We will see.

Give me the coordinates and I'll call in an airstrike.

When I was a service tech, by company policy we took care of any faults we caused. Either through warranty or through our manager. On one occasion the customer had another company work on their equipment and screwed it up. Working through my manager I repaired the machine and we charged for labor only at the lower PM rate. We earned that customers service business and two new machines.
