• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

parking brake

Has anyone had any problems with the parking brake not releasing? When my RT has sat with no activity for about 2 weeks I start it up but the parking brake will not disengage. I need to run it through a couple of cycles before it lets go. I have to pull in my garage and nose the bike in a corner. When the brake does not let go... I'm stuck until it releases. Any thoughts to this and one other question if you pull the battery does the brake release without power and if not how do you release it?

This is one of the cases, it would be nice to know if semi-auto or manual. I have a manual and only use the parking brake when out of the garge. I just leave it in gear, no help other then that.

Yes, it has happened. Make sure the brake cable is properly lubricated and adjusted, and that the vinyl coating is not extending out of the sheath and snagging on it. Make sure the brakes and brake drum mechanism are clean. Build-up of brake dust and road debris can cause sticking. Sometimes brake pads actually rust to the rotor under moist conditions or during storage. Not much you can do about that but try to keep them clean and dry or work them a few times until they release. In severe cases the drum may have to be turned manually or even removed and the shaft turned by hand. Sometimes the pads may have to be pried loose. In those types of cases a brake caliper rebuild or at least dismantling and inspecting the brakes, and lubricating the o-rings on the pin sleeves may help. Please note that severely worn brake pads can make this happen. Be sure to inspect the pads to see that they are not below the 1 mm minimum thickness (a little less than a new dime).

Here's what you do..!!

if you have a dead blow hammer or a plastic ended one tap the brake caliper a few time and it will release if the pads are stuck to the disk or pistons are dirty or binding. Do check the cable like Scotty said and if this happens often then have the system checked out...

Mine stuck but it took unhooking and rehooking the battery to get it to work again, don't have a clue there? Dealer checked it and it works fine, go figure.

I do not apply the electric brake when I park for a long period. The alarm will sound for a bit and I use chock to keep my:spyder2: in place.
