What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Well, on Labor day I actually worked for a few hours. Didn't mind since I am going to take a 3 day weekend on this one coming up. Wife bated me into thinking that she would go for a ride with me later in the afternoon. When the time came, she decided not to go. So I did the next best thing and took her Spyder out for a 101 mile ride. Weather was perfect and the ride was much needed. We're headed to Banner Elk this Friday and I was hoping to take the Spyder, but the weather is looking wet now, so I guess we will make other vehicle arrangements.

Rode over to HEB and picked up two loaves of bread, butter, some nice Envy apples, and some pecans. Oh yeah, and some GatorAde.

Last Thursday I took the RT in for her 9,000 mile service (a bit late as I had it right at 13,000 miles after the trip) and everything was in spec. Pulled an oil sample that is on its way to Blackstone. Service cost was about $600.

Friday is Mental Health Riding Day, so it was off to the Rock Store for lunch and hanging out with another of my riding group, then down to the beach via a canyon or two (or three) and dessert at Neptune's Net. A little bit of reading and enjoying the surf at Mugu Rock before heading back down PCH to Topanga Canyon and back to the Valley.

Still haven't cleaned the bike after the trip. Maybe tomorrow, if the weather doesn't suck.


That's a pretty area. There are some great back roads to get lost on.

Yesterday ( 9/7/2026) I washed the Spyder with Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Auto Wash. This is gentle on Matte Surfaces, it removes Contaminates, it has zero gloss, and the wax keeps the matte look intact while the thick foam lifts dirt and minimizes scratches.

I gave Sarge a much needed bath today, he hasn't had one since we got back from our trip to Florida in June. I Removed the front wheels and got into those slots and grooves real well, then reinstalled them and cleaned the rear wheel one spoke rotation at a time. What a PITA that is! Changed the bath water then washed from front to back, rinsed as I went and got him looking good for this weekend. Pretty sure he'll pass field day inspection. I'll give him a spit shine Saturday morning before we head to the 11th Annual Ride For the Veterans in Dayton, Ohio. It's a fund raiser for the Dayton National Cemetery Honor Squad, and we couldn't be more proud to participate.

I recently had the rear brake rotor and pads upgraded to the EBC set, and loving it. That makes a full set on all 3 corners.
