• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What did you do to your Spyder today?

Hi @dpetrick,

That info is good to know. Are you running Kanine tires all around?

I don't ride hard either, but when I have time, I do ride (life often gets in the way), and I ride solo. I am hoping to change the OEM tires, maybe next riding season (2027) or I might change the OEM tires the end of this season, time will tell.

I hope the Kanines last longer than the OEM tires.

I installed one on the rear of my 2021 RTL before my 9,045 mile cross country trip last May. Since then, I have put another 3,000 miles for a total of over 12,000 and it looks barely worn. I just ordered another one (from Walmart of all places) for my 2016 F3T which gets ridden aggressively. I feel like it will be good for that use also. For about $118 delivered, I could not beat the deal! I think that is actually less than I paid last year for the one for the RTL.

HI Blacklighting,

That is good to know.

Thanks for the info.

My Spyder is out of hibernation as of today.

I took a short ride on it today. It felt great to be back in the saddle again after the spider was in hibernation all winter.

I had planned on working on my Spyder today only to find out that my wife's Spyder failed to start due to a battery failure. The battery had been showing signs of wear and age the past year, so no surprise. So my plans changed and I went out and purchased a new battery for her and installed it on her Spyder. Tomorrow will be the day my own Spyder gets some needed TLC. For those curious, with the dealer closed on Sunday and Monday... I opted for the Batteries Plus Xtreme 24HL-BS. This is my first non-YUASA battery in the Spyder.

We had our tech day on Saturday and it was well worth it. David (the local spyder guru) came over and we undertook the job of replacing the handle and cable on the right side of my 2021 RTL. This would have gone terribly wrong if it had not been for David's experience doing this before. So many push pins, bolts, and screws. We removed every panel on the right side, along with the front and rear floor boards. Also had to slide the brake pedal out of the way as well. I have developed a hate for the push pins with the phillips head plastic screw in the middle. They are recessed and never screw out. You have to drill them out and just replace the push pins with new ones. Fortunately David knew this and brought some new ones along. Took a total of about 4 hours, but I really am proud of the work we did. Now to take the other side apart so I can lube the cable to keep it from breaking. Next will possibly be a rear tire change. We will see if I have the nerve to try it. The local dealer wants $195 with me providing everything. Next ride is out to the beach and doing the ferry rides with a local crew. I really wanted to take the BMW, but I honestly don't trust my bike on a kickstand with the shifting of the boat. Had a buddy years ago have his knocked over after the people in charge told him he couldn't sit on it to stabilize it beforehand. We will see.

Yesterday I worked on the admore lighting kit for the GIVI V58 top case. I have a sub-harness I got from Value Accessories. Let me just say, after matching colors according to the 2 diagrams, the blinkers did not work. After all that, I have to go back to basics and test the wires to see if the harness includes the left and right blinker wires. If it does not, I'll scrap the PnP harness and tap into the OEM harness instead. Boy what a pain.

Removed a zillion grass hoopers from the rads and windshield, this is the year/spring of grass hoopers in the greater Phoenix area. Went for a ride yesterday to tested out the Value Accessories LED light turn sign strips on the back side the mirrors. I installed them on the housing above the mirror glass. Picture caught the flash "ON". Should really help the "I left the flashers on" issue.

Rode it to exercise this morning with a threat of rain... and it rained just enough to show just how much dirt can be hidden... brought it home and gave it a quick rinse/wipe. Much much better...
