• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Gave it a good cleaning after a 6 day ride to Sturgis. Lots of grasshoppers and bee's. But I did manage to avoid the hail 25 miles away :)
Saw lots of videos of people caught in that hail storm online. Didn't look to be too much fun. Glad you were able to miss it. As I tell all my friends, when traveling, I have one phone for navigation and one with the weather radar pulled up. The radar one dictates my travels when necessary. That is how we were able to do 3 weeks cross country and never once got rained on last year.

Did a longer test on the blind spot radar today... It's also my second time doing a video. The first one was an overexposed mess.

I had adjusted the sensor before, but I probably pointed it too much to the right, hence the yellow sometimes lights up when a car behind me is slightly to the left...
Nice job on the sensors! They do need to be standard equipment!

Mine is going into the shop next week. It needs a new left hand multi-module switch cluster. Apparently BRP poorly designed the contacts for the blinkers, and probably other contacts as well, so my left blinker doesn't work. I sprayed it with electronic cleaner but that didn't fix the issue. Fortunately, I was able to buy the OEM part from a place that sells it for over $200 less than what BRP is asking, plus free shipping.

After my last ride, I found a couple of loose screws on my Route 129 shield. I replaced them due to the Allen sockets being rounded from too many installs and removals. New hardware installed with a dab of blue locktite.

I've gone back & forth with the 129. I like the looks of the F3S with just the gauge spoiler, but once I hit a headwind I wish I have the 129 on. The 129 has been on now for over a month, and I now finally realize how much it helps. At this time I have no intention of removing it. I don't get any wind buffeting, but it is a bit noisy. In fact, of all the shields and styles out there, I personally think the Route 129 looks the best on the F3S.
If I ever replace it, I'll put a tinted GP CYCLEWORKS Route 129 style shield on it.

I got beat up so bad from the wind with the gauge cowl on my trip down to the Dragon a couple of weeks ago that I had to go to the doctor last week to get some prednisone for my back, because it just wouldn't stop hurting. When I go back down in October, I am throwing the Blue Ridge back on until I can get a GP as well, but I think I am going to go for the 20" Euro flip. After this last trip, I don't want to get beat up like that again for almost 2K miles.

Which leads me to what I did today to get ready for October, I took advantage of a cool dry morning to do the work. I started repainting the Blue Ridge again with priming the windshield and hardware for a new color scheme. The whole windshield is going Black with Metallic Blue hardware.

I also did my front and rear brakes, and once that was completed I did an oil change, then baby got a bath to finish it off for the day.

Added highway pegs (bought them off eBay) and they turned out nice. The annoying thing was the seller. There were no instructions and took him days to email me the template & instructions. The template was totally worthless, so I figured out where to mount the brackets. The other thing was the mounting hardware. He sent all stainless 10mm hardware and the (4) 1” standoffs were 3/8” and of course didn’t fit. Messaged the seller “dallas-bagger” (multiple times) regarding the hardware issue and refunding me for the (4) ½” diameter 1” long stainless spacers and of course he totally blew me off. I included a picture where I drilled the holes.

I also added the matching 3D carbon fiber “glossy” glove box cover (matching my dash) with a 3D Spider (of course :) ) and finally finished mounting the Garmin XM40 Antenna for my Garmin Zumo 665 with built in XM radio and getting it working. I can now move my Garmin from my Harley to the Spyder and back again. Quick funny story regarding it:

I totally forgot Garmin XM antennas have all the controls in them like the Radio ID, Channels/Tuner and setting; the Garmin Units (like the Zumo) just has the front-end interface and doesn't store anything. The XM antenna like the XM40 I bought on eBay, takes on the first thing it's interfaced with and keeps those setting forever. So, it was comical when I tried to have XM Tech initialize it for the first time and he keep asking me if it was a boat or a motorcycle…LOL!! It turned out that it was first interfaced with a Marine Garmin. I had to call the marine division of Garmin to get it working. I knew that I was going to have to buy another subscription since each antenna or car is its own interface and subscription. So now I have a car, motorcycle and boat subscription. No worries at all and it works great. I had to laugh when the tech said “you know you’re not going to get traffic on this”; I snorted… I said I guess you wouldn’t need traffic on the Cam-Am out on the open seas…
