• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Today's numbers here in the desert: High 80°, Low 57°, Humidity 44%, Breeze 7 MPH. No clouds. We did develop a few clouds in the valley yesterday afternoon, but no rain. Last night after dark, I could see some flashing in the sky far off in the mountains to the NE.. It's always fun to watch (from a good distance). Stay safe..... Jim

@mecsw500, I think most people don't know or think about the elevation of a vast area in the Western U.S. Denver is always referred to as The Mile High City. But the Salt Lake City area is nearly as high. Flagstaff, AZ is over 7,000 feet in elevation. A lot of the Western U.S. is high desert, with forests mixed in and even higher mountains. At those elevations, even what might be considered a minor weather event can bring BIG changes. Back in my days of seasonally commuting between Washington and Arizona, in early October one year, I climbed out of Pendleton, OR. up onto the high plateau of the Blue Mountains, then ran into a blizzard, with vehicles sliding off the road left and right. The weather this time of year can be challenging...

Here in the Valley of the Sun (at about 1,500 elevation), it's sunny with a few clouds forming in the afternoon. Temperatures for today and the next 10 days are pretty consistent, with daytime highs about 80° and nighttime lows about 60°. No rain in the forecast, but there could be a few pop-up scattered showers, mainly in the mountains. Stay safe..... Jim
Yes, we are high up. The weather up at 9,000 to 12,000 feet in the mountains can have tons of snow, whilst we here in the valley where I'm at, at about 5,000 feet, get rain or nothing, at this time of year.

I love the snow, as long as it stays in the mountains. My wife is from PA, so any little blip on the landscape is a mountain. Out here in the Mountain West, the Rockies and the Wasatch etc, we have proper mountains rather than just big hills. Well, that's what I tell her.

It's funny, where I live now here is higher than any place in the British Isles where I was born. Back there 5,000 feet would be really high, out here it's just ground level. The mountain roads peak higher than any point in the British Isles all over again, and that's not anywhere near their tops.
