• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

I've got to have at least one more ride on mine. Got caught in a hail/rainstorm Friday afternoon and the rig is covered in crap. I'd like to wash it before I put it away and I've already got my outside tap shut off and drained so I'll be taking it to a carwash.

OMG, hail storms are horrible; I feel for you! The last one my wife and I got caught in, it was like following a gravel truck! We stayed under a freeway overpass until it stopped. I always have to laugh about getting caught in the rain. We rented Harleys on the big island of Hawaii and got caught in a nasty rain storm near Hilo. By the time we pulled over and tried to get our rain gear on, we were soaked. ☹️ Also inevitably, you finally get your rain gear on and ride for maybe 10 minutes, then it stops and you have to take it all off again! :ROFLMAO:

I find I get almost as wet with gear on as without from sweating.
Took the ole girl up to the car wash today to get the crud off it. Also changed the oil in prep for winter. Never put it up on the jack yet, thinking I may get another short ride in before hibernation.

Removed the critter/rodent proof panel across the opening in the covered area where I park the Spyder for the summer, or when we are gone for any length of time. Riding season has returned after the blistering hot Arizona Summer. Going to have to be very careful removing the cover, because along the front and left side, there are large chaotic spider webs running from the cover to the walls. Webs like this are typical of Black Widow spiders. I do find them in various protected places in the yard every year. Even let one lovely lady live and raise kids in my cactus garden. She nested down inside a cactus where I'll NEVER stick my hand. As I like to say: "Everything here wants to hurt you." Rule number one I learned shortly after moving here. "Don't rake backwards without looking behind you first."

Out on the Dragon and Skyway today. Almost got taken out on the Dragon by an idiot in a BMW. I was a safe distance behind him and he was acting like a fool. Then a sports bike came up behind me, so I pulled over to let him through.

He tailgated the BMW, the BMW pulled over and let the sports bike by, and as I went to pass him, he just pulled out in front of me and cut me off, almost taking me out so he could chase down the sport bike, but realized he wasn't going to do that, then slowed down to almost nothing to mess with me after he'd almost killed me.

I let him have it once we got into Deal's Gap. Most likely the video will be posted from someone there. I went off on a rant for about 20 seconds then turned my attention to what appeared to be some type of foreign group that were all wearing the same outfits. They were really nice. And I felt awful that they'd probably seen me at my worst possible moment. I felt a little better that they still wanted to talk to me, but I was so embarrassed about losing it, I just thanked them and pulled around the corner on 28 to a spot where I could decompress for a few minutes. The appetite that I had brought with me for lunch had left, so I continued on to the Skyway. I'm still upset at myself for losing it with that asshat. I'm going up to Clingman's Dome early tomorrow, after driving through tornadoes and hail to get down here and then all this today. I am hoping tomorrow will be at least one good day here before going home.

That sounds like a sickening experience, enough to upset anyone. Hope you can shake that off and enjoy the rest of your visit.

I don't think so it gets even better today. I came to pop's place to get some biscuits after seeing sunrise up by clingmans dome and my shifter is dead. All of my stuff is on the other side of the dragon two and a half hours away. Even if I get the shifter working I don't even know if it would make it all the way over there much less home I'm hoping Ron has some appointments open as I may need to throw it up to Greenville for them to look at it. It will shift in reverse and go back into neutral when I start it but it won't shift up anymore. There is no damage underneath I did find a cable clamp loose on the handle bar but no crimps or exposed wire and everything else is working.

Yep, I think I may be DIW. Last ditch attempt at disconnecting the battery and hopefully something will reset or stop shorting. Other than that I guess I'm calling uhaul so I can rent a truck or trailer to get back to dragon city to get my stuff. I may even try opening the shifter to see if there's any moisture in there from when I came down through the storms the other day. I wasn't going to do it before because I was afraid it may fall apart but at this point now I don't have any other choice nothing else is working.

Called Ron and he walked me through some steps and it looks like my control cluster is hosed again. But right after talked to him I think I got it working. It's at least in first gear I'll find out if the others work. At least I can move to get back to the hotel. I'll be with all my stuff although it may be a slow trip. Once back at the hotel I will not worry as much. Wish me luck, I'm getting ready to do the dragon to get back there with a s***** shifter.
