• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi:
? when the sun hits my 2010 RTSE5 windshield I get rainbows..and it really does interfere with my line of sight. It is on the complete windshield. Saw a "sister" Spyder and theirs was doing the same thing. Any suggestions on how to "fix" or is this a warranty issue? Thanks so much you experts.

RE: Rainbows

Make sure you are using a cleaning solution that is residue free for motorcycle windscreens, like Plexus, etc. There are others out there that are as good or better with a little research. It isn't the windscreen causing the rainbows.

Best,

Paul

I have found that my Poloroid sunglasses have that effect on my windshield.

Most polarized lenses will produce this rainbow effect on curved surfaces. Curiously, I have personally not seen this with glass surfaces (curved or otherwise), only with the various plastic ones.

I am uncertain whether this is inherent in the surface material or the result of the natural coatings that end up on the shield due to road travel.

I have found that my Poloroid sunglasses have that effect on my windshield.

Not sure if I should start swearing.

Re: Rainbowed windshield. I was told by dealer to use Lemon Pledge on my windshield. %$#@ have I done this to "myself".....%^$# if I have. Know there won't be any Plexus in my town...but will order from web...but if I have already done the damage .... dang, dang, dang.

Pledge shouldn't harm your windshield.

Yet another reason that you want a windshield that you look over, not through. nojoke

Sometimes to reduce head bobble the windshield ends up being adjusted to where your field of vision is both above and through it. At least that is the way it is on my CHAD. Sorry, not trying to steal your thread.

I don't know where people get the Pledge idea from...I thought it was originally a joke! As far as permanent damage, I don't know about that. Pledge leaves an oil residue, which is probably what you are seeing...anything that eats away at grease will probably work...

Most products that are noted to be safe for plexiglass and plastics are tested so they're good to go. I cannot believe that Pledge has ever been tested on anything clear...it's for furniture, for Pete's sake...

When you get this fixed, go with Waxing Frenzy wax and detailing sprays...I challenge anyone to come up with better products...you can use them on your entire bike (except the seat)...
