The current temp in Vermont is 40 degrees. It was a pleasant Sunday with Spring like temps, which resulted in a few ice jams on some of the rivers (they are watching the rivers). The rivers will recede tonight as temps get close to, or below, freezing. However, new ice jams may form, and additional rivers may flood on Monday as highs get even warmer. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 50's and low 60's. The wind will gust as high as 40 mph. This will continue to support the rapid snow melt, which will run off into rivers and other bodies of water.
The threat for ice jams will continue into Thursday. A back door cold front may touch off a few showers on Tuesday, otherwise it will be partly sunny with highs ranging from the 40's in the Northern part of Vermont, into the 50's and low 60's in the Southern part of Vermont. There could be a low pressure system in the area on Wednesday. It's continuing to look warmer, though the heavier rain is now inching farther into Canada. That said, some rain is likely, and high temps will be at least into the low 40's and reach the 50's in Southern parts of Vermont. Morning rain Thursday will change to afternoon snow. A few inches of accumulation is possible. Early highs in the 30's will fall through the 20's by afternoon, and overnight lows will be in the teens and low 20's, so everything will freeze up again.
As for Friday, it will start off with some sunshine, then an other weaker system could bring a light rain/snow mix late in the day and overnight. A few inches of snow can't be ruled out. A return to more seasonable temps will happen over the weekend with highs mainly in the mid 30's, and lows in the teens and 20's.There's a chance for snow showers both days, but significant weather isn't expected.
I am done snowmobiling for the season. I did get in a few snowmobile rides during the season. The trails were awesome! Life then got in the way. Now I am in between the snowmobile season and the Spyder season.
