Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

I generally wear just a tee-shirt and shorts in the summer months. I generally do not wear anything else until it gets colder.

YES. I wear gloves 100% of the time when on the road. The only time I don't is if I'm moving the Spyder on the driveway or turning it around etc. for garage work or cleaning.

All gear when going faster than 3mph. :thumbup:

To each his own, but it just doesn't register to me how anyone would rather care about comfort over safety. In terms of gloves, I have several pairs, some more protective (and restrictive) than others. If I'm heading down the highway, the more protective gloves go on. Its not about me doing something dumb and falling, it's about the other driver who doesn't see me and makes me fall.

Wear them, you'll get use to them. Just like seatbelts.

I have several types of gloves that I use. Old school leather driving gloves with a longer cuff + thin wool lining I use for summer and temperate days in fall. They tuck into my Leather jacket. They do not have an open back.
I have deerskin gloves for fall and spring. Those are nice and warm. Then for colder weather I have insulated gloves that are very warm, but a bit thick for my taste. Not so easy to do the signals etc. YMMV

We have at least a dozen pairs of gloves. From thin fingerless to heavy lined gauntlet gloves for cold weather riding in Alaska--when we were there.

I have NEVER rode without gloves. I feel they give a level of comfort and protection. I also believe in ATGATT. Always, helmet, gloves, riding shoes or boots. Never any shorts. Have done t-shirts in the 100 degree temps though. :thumbup:

Road debris, bugs, and rain hurt a lot at speed.
Also, if you ever find yourself sliding superman-style down the road due to a get-off, your palms will thank you for having the gloves. Ask me how I know. :yikes:

Yep, always. Protects the hands from bugs, rocks, and other debris plus keeps them warm and/or dry in wet and cold weather.

Had to laugh at the reminder. A good friend of mine would put on gloves just to move his bike out of the garage. No helmet, but he had to wear gloves. Said it just didn't feel right without them!! RIP, Alan.

99.99% of the time. I have and carry 3 types all the time and add battery heated gauntlets in the colder months. For all the reasons mentioned above, and I don't feel right without my gloves on.

I like mesh weight lifting gloves for warm weather. They have padded palms and let more air in than most motorcycle gloves.

Always wear gloves with reinforced palms (extra layers) and reinforce knuckles. I was told these areas are difficult for a surgeon to repair.

I like troop above have at least a dozen or more M/C gloves. Always wear the appropriate gloves. Always protect my skin from the Sun. Skin Cancer is real and prevalent.

I always wear gloves while riding. As others have said, they are protection against bugs and rocks, and also for the unlikely but traumatic event of a come-off.

In the summer, I wear fingerless white ones that cover my knuckles and have padded palms for the off chance that I do any sliding. Fingerless gives me finer motor control with the throttle and buttons. In winter, I switch to full finger thermal ones.

I was new to riding and brought my Spyder to the dealer for service. The service manager said he would ride the trike into the service area. As we were walking out of the store, he put riding gloves on. I asked why since he was only riding around the building perhaps 2,500 feet. He said, as some have in this post, to protect his hands from anything that may hurt them.
I have always worn gloves since that conversation.

Yes, I wear full leather gloves. They protect my hands from the weather elements, bugs, etc. I have been wearing them since 2012 ( when I got my first :spyder2).

I can’t Ryde without them it just doesn’t feel right.

There are no bones sticking out, and you only lost skin! Usually, if it's at any speed, the sorta slide that does that to a good set of m/cycle gloves takes a fair bit more flesh than that! :yikes:
