There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

This morning I addressed an issue that I had been ignoring. The original owner installed a belt roller, and it was not aligned correctly on the belt. So I just removed it. Maybe someone knows who the supplier was for this? I may want to get a new roller and reinstall it aligned correctly. The Arm is plastic/fiberglass?

I installed the replacement Left hand Multi-switch and tested good, Filter from Ron came in yesterday so I changed the oil to get the oil that was in there out.

I ran it pretty hard in 1st gear when the switch was not shifting, it kept getting hot and I would have to stop and idle to let the fans cool it back down before I could keep going.

It only had 3k on it but I changed it out since it was hot.

Tomorrow, I will start cleaning and waxing the panels as I put them back on.

I find it easier to get the scratches out and wax them while the panels are off, plus you don't have to go around with a spudger wrapped in microfiber cloth to get the wax out from in between the panels.

That is how the belt roller arm on my wife's 2021 RT looked. Pulled it off and there was a BRP part number that is no longer in use. It says on hers 'Made in Canada'. The part number for hers was on the top of the arm non roller side and by the joint where the bolt goes through connecting the metal and plastic arm. Small print.

Finished up placing the panels back on and the wife and I went out for a ride after I did a test ride.

We went up and drove the Gettysburg battlefield auto tour loop and came back home. Chilly ride.

I didn't do anything to the Spyder, but I bought some thermals at Costco as it's getting colder now.
My wife brought home a battery powered vest by 32 Degree on her last trip to Costco. She wants to increase my chances of safely traveling to LV next month for the 28k service, tire change, etc on the Spyder. We used to have a nice Aluma trailer for things like that, but I sold it 3 years ago so the Spyder doesn't go anywhere now that isn't under its own power.

I put the Slingmod's heated passenger backrest on for my spousal unit. She just loves it. She hated the stock backrest.
I also swapped out my old Kenda tires for the front Vredestein Quatrac's in 165/60/15 & the rear for a General Altimax R45 Tire in 205/60/15. My front Kendas still had 1/2 the tread left, but I just hated they way they tracked and handled.

What a difference between the Kendas and new tires! It's like night and day. Ride and handling is just amazing and it is a game changer indeed. Thank you to all the folks who commented/suggested on my other post regarding these and the Conti's. I really appreicate you all!

Funny thing: I've had the Spyder for a while now and I have just been riding it a lot. I haven't had to clean it much and I thought (silly me) that my rims were flat gray in color. Turns out that my buddy who sold it to me just never cleaned the wheels. So to my surprise, when I washed the wheels before having the tires mounted, the rims were gloss black! I've been doing so many mods to the bike, I never paid attention to the wheels other than just adding air and watching the wear on the tires. Yeah, I know, I have my moments... LOL

Nothing this past weekend, but my cousin had mentioned coming over today to get a ride in. But wouldn't you know that as soon as I checked my emails, I got an invite for a zoom meeting that I have been waiting on for weeks. So it looks like today will be a working and not riding day.:(

Got the rough stainless part done and mounted, both sides. Wife will try them for a bit and then I'll work on dressing them up a bit.

Thinking about wire brush finish and then trying some stainless steel blackening. If that looks okay, then a clear coat for protection. Oh, after cleaning up all the welds...

Well, I finally got the Spyder out for a ride, first without the roller. No belt harmonics like the Champaign one had at around 45 MPH. (y)

Installed the Lamonster Garage IPS Belt Tensioner
I love wrenching (besides riding of course) and I’m a total weenie for mods and upgrades. I was getting a lot of road vibration through the handlebars and when I recently changed out the tires, about 90 percent instantly of it went away. The bike now rides as smooth as a car now on the freeway. That 10% has been driving me crazy and I came to realize that the rest was coming from the belt at higher speeds. So, I just upgrade the Belt Tensioner to a Lamonster Garage IPS Belt Tensioner / Can Am Spyder RT 2014+, Part #LG-1165-RT. It was easy to install and just have to take your time taking off all the side panels and foot rest (rider & Passenger) Used Martin the Vlogger’s Video on YouTube on removing the panels since I’ve never removed the very bottom one that covers all the engine & running gear.

Took it out for a ride yesterday and all I can say is what a difference it made. I was really impressed that all my vibration is gone when I’m cruising at 65 – 80mph. Got a 280mi ride tomorrow with my friend (have Spyders too) on backroads through the Mojave Desert and up to Tehachapi (past the windmill generator farm) for lunch to really test it out. I will say out of all the improvements I’ve made, the biggest and best one was the tire swap I did.

Funny thing: (In my defense…LOL) The part didn’t have any instructions with it other than telling you which holes to use on their 3 hole mount for the different models. So, When I removed the old tensioner and put the new one on; the holes didn't line up with the spacer or tensioner mount. I got mad at myself, thinking that I bought the wrong tensioner and called Lamonster’s Tech up. The guys there are amazing and pointed me to an install video on their site (didn’t think of that…duh) and came to realize that it doesn’t use the original mounting holes. It goes just behind those mounting holes and attached to the frame strut. You can see in the last picture where the original holes are right below the tensioner.

Please Note: It's pretty easy to install (once the panels and floorboards are off) and just make sure the roller arm is perfectly parallel with the belt and the roller is making full contact on the belt. If the arm is not install parallel to the belt, you risk putting an extra load on the bearings in the roller and possibly causing the bearing to prematurely fail later down the road.

Add Note: My grandson has become very handy mechanically and is starting to show a lot of interest in Motorcycles/3 wheelers. So, I gave him a thrill and walked him through putting the Spyder all back together including torquing all the bolts. He did a great job and afterwards I took him for a ride so he can see what the Spyder is like. I just love this thing! My Harley still remains covered...lol

Well, finally put the Spyder to bed for the winter. I have been hoping for one final alignment of the sun and stars so I could get in a final ride but it didn't work out. Too many appointments and shaky weather. Now watch, it will be perfect. LOL ( but that ain't what the forecast says. )
