Well, here in Vermont, the temps were in the 40's and 50's yesterday (the snowmobile trails are currently closed due no snow). We had some very high winds. One of the mountains reported a 108 mph wind gust. As of yesterday at 12:00 Noon (EST) there were about 22,000 people without power, mainly in the Northern part of Vermont. I am OK, and I have power.
Also, on the top of Mount Washington, New Hampshire, they had wind gusts of 118 mph as of Friday morning. Since then, the wind has calmed down, it is much quieter today. We had some sunshine here in the morning, but is is cloudy. The temps are in the upper 20's and low 30's. It is definitely cooler than the mild temps we had on Friday.
Tonight, colder conditions will return tonight ahead of a clipper, but damaging winds aren't expected at this time. Wind gusts as high as 40 mph are possible. The clipper and cold front will bring scattered snow showers on Sunday, which is the first day of winter. Only a trace to maybe 2 inches of accumulation can be expected. It will be breezy with highs in the low to mid 30's, dropping off during the afternoon. Lows will be in the teens.
The active weather will continue during the week. Just some flurries are expected on Monday. Another clipper will pass through Tuesday with light snow. Another inch or so accumulation is possible, which will guarantee a White Christmas. Christmas Eve will be dry, then some snow showers are possible on Christmas Day. Highs both days will be relatively pleasant in the low 30s. The next storm system could bring a messy mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain on Friday.
The current temp is 26 degrees and cloudy.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
